EARLY VOTING
Why should I vote early?
Voting early is a good option for everyone. Early voting happens for 3 weeks before the election. This gives you have more time to plan when to vote and fit it into your schedule. If there is any question about your voter registration, voting early gives you time to fix any issues to make your vote count.
When is early voting in Chatham County?
The preliminary schedule for Early Voting in Chatham County is available here. Early voting starts Tuesday, October 15 and ends Friday, November 1. Please note that there is no weekend voting on November 2 & 3!
What if I need to vote early in a different Georgia county?
Each Georgia county schedules their own early voting. Find your county’s early voting information here: County Election Offices
Plan exactly when you will go home to vote! You must vote in the same county where you are registered. That means if you aren’t registered in Chatham County, you need to go home for early voting OR see the absentee ballot section below.
ABSENTEE VOTING
Why should I request an absentee ballot?
If you don’t want to change your voter registration address to your school address, then you need to vote in the county where you are registered. The way to do this is by absentee ballot, a ballot mailed to you in Savannah that you return by mail to your county BY ELECTION DAY.
Remember that your vote will not count if your absentee ballot is not received by November 5, 2024, so start working on your Georgia absentee ballot request TODAY!
How do I get an absentee ballot?
You have to submit an application for the state in which you are registered. Absentee ballots will begin being mailed to voters in Georgia on October 7.
To complete a Georgia absentee ballot request online, visit the Absentee Application page. Print the application, sign it and attach ID if necessary, and email it to your county’s Voter Registration office. Find that email address here.
How do I return my absentee ballot?
You need to get your absentee ballot into the mail at least by October 26. If your ballot does not get to your county election office by November 5, Election Day, your vote will NOT be counted. PLAN AHEAD! Talk to the SSU Mail Center in King Frazier if you need help with mailing your absentee ballot.
What if I’m registered in a different state than Georgia?
Come to a Plan Your Vote event to get help with absentee ballot requests for all other states.
Don’t wait until the last minute! You need to have time for the ballot to arrive at your Savannah address and for you to mail it back by November 5.
ELECTION DAY VOTING
Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024
7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Can I vote anywhere on November 5?
No, you need to vote at your precinct, the voting location for your area. To find that location for Georgia, look up your voter registration on the Georgia My Voter page and click the links to view or email your precinct card. Look for the address for your POLLING PLACE.
How do I get to my polling place?
